1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
    the world, and all who live in it;
2Â for he founded it on the seas
    and established it on the waters.
3Â Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
    Who may stand in his holy place?
4Â The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
    who does not trust in an idol
    or swear by a false god.
5Â They will receive blessing from the Lord
    and vindication from God their Saviour.
6Â Such is the generation of those who seek him,
    who seek your face, God of Jacob.
7Â Lift up your heads, you gates;
    be lifted up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
8Â Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord strong and mighty,
    the Lord mighty in battle.
9Â Lift up your heads, you gates;
    lift them up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
10Â Who is he, this King of glory?
    The Lord Almighty –
    he is the King of glory.
8Â See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.
9Â For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10Â and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. 11Â In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ, 12Â having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
13Â When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14Â having cancelled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. 15Â And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
